What Do You Need for a Wedding Cruise?
By David Kosak

A wedding cruise can be an absolute gem if pulled off properly, but at the same time it can become a logistical nightmare if proper planning is absent. The wedding cruise itself is all going to be taken care of by the company that you are going on a cruise with, but at the same time there are a number of other things that you need to be aware of when you are planning for the wedding cruise.

The first thing you need to plan for is the monetary part of the cruise itself. There is nothing worse than planning everything out in detail only to realize right at the very end that you do not have the money to pay for it. In order to avoid this undesirable outcome, make sure that you are well aware of what the monetary costs are going to be in advance and also make sure that you are able to pay those monetary costs reasonably quickly. If you can not afford a wedding cruise, then you need to be honest about that up front rather than figuring it out later once all the planning has been done.

Once you are certain that you have the ability to pay for the wedding cruise, then it is time to sit down and figure out your guest list. Remember that a wedding cruise ceremony is either going to take place on the boat itself or alternatively at one of the different ports of call. In both cases, chances are that your guest list is going to be a lot lower than it would be for a normal wedding in a Church or other religious building. Wedding cruises are more expensive to pull off and are also more crowded on the boat (since you probably would not be alone) and both of these combine to make the guest list smaller than normal. Make sure you have a priority list of close friends and relatives and then another list of people to invite if you have extra space. Doing so will make your life a lot easier later on down the road.

Once you have the monetary concerns sorted out and the guest list assembled, then and only then is it time to start planning out the ceremony. Make a phone call to the company that is hosting the cruise you are going on and get them to send you the information about all of the different choices for the different aspects of their wedding ceremony. Go over these choices with a fine-toothed comb and choose exactly what you want. Take your time and have fun; after all, you will only get this day once!
